The School of Dentistry (SoD) Dental Informatics IT department has an exciting opportunity for an INTERMEDIATE DATA ANALYST. You will be responsible for managing and creating Tableau dashboards, assisting in the development of data pipelines, and enhancing our analytics services.

Our organization supports faculty, staff, and students to further SoD's mission areas of teaching and learning, research, healthcare, and administration. What You'll Do as an Intermediate Data Analyst

  • You will consult with clinics, academic departments, and research areas to analyze requests and define business requirements.
  • You will have a hand in furthering data automation and developing analysis.
  • You will prepare various data products, visualizations, and reports for various customers, such as researchers, faculty leadership, clinical directors, and finance colleagues.
  • You will learn about Tableau, SQL, and Python
  • You will collaborate with other data analysts, developers, and the larger Dental Informatics team
  • You will work closely with other units on campus to leverage University-wide tools and services (e.g. Business Intelligence Community of Practice) as well as national networks (e.g. Healthcare Data and Analytics Association)
  • You will also leverage industry-leading practices to improve the functionality, reproducibility, and overall value of our data. Examples include machine learning and natural language processing.
  • You will have a combination of on-campus responsibilities and remote work opportunities.
  • You will report to the Assistant Director of Data Analytics and Development.

Required Qualifications for Intermediate Data Analyst

  • BA or BS in quantitative field
  • 3 to 5 years of experience
  • Familiarity with and experience building Tableau dashboards
  • Experience with creating charts, graphs, and reports and working with users to improve understanding
  • Experience with SQL
  • Experience with a variety of databases (Oracle, MySQL, PostGreSQL)
  • Demonstrated ability to apply new or different ways of thinking to creatively solve problems

  • IT experience in a healthcare or university setting if preferred.
  • Technical certification is preferred.

Summary of Position

The Center for Biostatistics and Epidemiology (CBE) at the Lewis Katz School of Medicine (LKSOM) at Temple University seeks to recruit a Research Informatics scientist/faculty at the levels of Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor. The new faculty member will carry a tenure-track or non-tenure-track faculty appointment in LKSOM within the Department of Biomedical Education and Data Sciences. Clinicians and non-clinicians are welcome to apply.

The CBE provides critical support for clinical, translational, and basic research at LKSOM. Our mission is to offer biostatistical and epidemiological research resources, develop clinical research programs, educate trainees in clinical research methods, and nurture collaboration across multiple disciplines. The occupant of this position will oversee Informatics activities at the CBE, including Temple’s participation as a PaTH PCORnet (National Patient-Centered Clinical Research Network) site. In addition, this occupant will contribute to enhancing the Research Informatics infrastructure at LKSOM.

Qualified applicants will have M.D., and/or Ph.D. degrees, completed rigorous training, and demonstrated the ability to conduct independent, extramurally funded informatics research.
